Glycerin is normal metabolite formed of lipid and phospholipid hydrolysis. The drug is used in a pure form as laxative both oral and rectal. The drug diluted with (30-50 %) water, Vaseline or lanoline is a good emollient remedy.
- Contraindications and cautions:
As an emollient remedy – skin lesions, as a laxative – inflammatory intestine diseases, gastrointestinal tract neoplasms, pregnancy in the last term.
In a solution or ointment form – as emollient remedy, in a pure form – as laxative (rectal suppositories or microclysters).
- Method of application:
As– apply solutions or ointments locally, as rectal introduction of drug – 1 suppository or 5 ml before stool.
Haemolysis, hemoglobinuria, hemoglobinuric nephrosis, intestine irritation, in this case – symptomatic treatment.
