Nitrofuran derivative, antibacterial agent using for the treatment of intestinal infection (intestinal antiseptic). It is active against gram-positive cocci Staphylococcus spp, Streptococcus spp., bacilii gram-negativi – Salmonella spp., Shigella spp., Proteus spp. The drug is absorbed too little into the gastrointestinal tract.
- Contraindications and cautions:
Hypersensibility to nitrofurans.
Diarrhea, gastroenteritis, acute and chronic colitis provoked by Campylobacter jejuni, Shigella, Salmonella, Escherichia coli. The drug is an intestinal antiseptic for the disbacteriosis prevention.
Taking strong drinks at the same time with the drug increases risk of side effects.
- Method of application:
For adults – 200 mg 4 times a day, for children over 2 years – 300 mg 3 times a day
For children below 2 years – 200 mg 2 times a day (contents of the capsule is mixed with food).
- Special precautions:
It is necessary to use rehydration when diarrhea.
